Bedruthan Steps Camping

Overlooking the world famous Bedruthan Steps

Bedruthan Steps Camping is open during the month of August, we are a basic camp site and there is no electric hook up, but on site are hot showers and toilets. As the field is over 12 acres of land there is no need to book, please just turn up!

The fabulous Bedruthan Steps are the giant rock stacks on the beach, which according to legend were the stepping stones for the giant Bedruthan, and the area has always been the property of Carnanton Estates.

The area has for hundreds of years invoked glowing reports, as seen in Blacks Guide to Cornwall 1883. 'Bedruthan Steps, a scene of gigantic confusion mingled with the most peaceful beauty. The visitor may observe in one of the detached rocks a likeness to Queen Elizabeth 1, with the crown, ruff and farthingale.' Unfortunately due to the mineral erosion by the sea the rock has now lost her head, but you can still imagine her in all her glory.

The camp site is a short walk from the privately owned beach where the Bedruthan steps are situated. There are a number of steps down to the beach.

Bedruthan Steps Camping is on the B3276 coast road 6 miles south of Padstow, 6 miles north of Newquay. The signs for the Bedruthan Steps main car park and camp site are easily seen from the road.

The Bedruthan Steps car park with direct access to the views from the lower car park, which is ideal for those with mobility issues, is open from April through to October.

The scenic coastal path runs just below the site, literally two minutes! To the south through Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay towards Newquay, and to the north are the glorious beaches of Porthcothan, Harlyn Bay, Trevose and Treyarnon onto Padstow.

At Bedruthan Steps Camping wherever you pitch your tent you will have far reaching views over the Atlantic, where dolphins visit the bay regularly, the air is soft and relaxing, and if you enjoy the outdoor life this is the perfect holiday. The end of the day at Bedruthan Steps is always completed by a breathtaking sunset which many people travel from all over the world to see.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of the most beautiful sights that Cornwall has to offer.
